Participant Timeline
A Participant Timeline is a basically your way to see what will happen and when, and is your way to look back at the parts of the Charleston-Works Program you have already finished. Orientation starts the first week of each month. After you have enrolled in Charleston-Works you can add this timeline to your calendar to know when you will start each section of the program - and finish.
Orientation: 1 Week
This is when you get your first taste of the Schoenbaum Center's Charleston-Works Program. It is during this time that you will really find out what you will be doing while in the program, have your first class, meet with the Charleston-Works and Family Partner Peer Network staff, be joined with the other Participants in your group, and much more.
Fundamental: 5 Weeks
This is when you really get started with your classes. You will have classes in Personal Development, Today's Work Place, Job Readiness and Peer Support to name a few.
Custom Training: 6 Weeks
This is when you start the classes that are specifically geared to the new carrer that you have chosen: Hospitality / Information Clerk, Facility Maintenance, Personal Care Attendent, Phlebotomy Technician or Home Health Care Aid.
Internship: 9 Weeks
This is when you get the hands on experience to practice what you have been learning. By completing the internship with a local business that is a Charleston-Works partner, you will gain the experience in your new field that you will need to get your new job.
Placement: 26 Weeks
You are now employed. The Schoenbaum Center's Charleston-Works Program still needs you to keep in contact and come to occasional alumni meetings. At this point you have your new job - and more important, your new career. That's something to be proud of for a lifetime.
